SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for implementing and administering all activities to ensure that Dieppe continues to be a leader in economic growth in New Brunswick. Increasing the overall tax base, particularly through non-residential development, is a central priority of the position. A crucial aspect of the role is to adequately plan the availability and servicing of land in the Dieppe Industrial Park. The development of a strategic land acquisition and sales plan will be essential to achieving the established objectives. Identifying emerging economic sectors to generate new investment opportunities will also be important. The incumbent acts as a facilitator for investment opportunities by leveraging a broad network of stakeholders and organizations across the regional economic ecosystem to support project realization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in close collaboration with a Board of Directors.
- Develop a work plan to ensure the implementation of the economic development strategic plan as defined by the City of Dieppe and the Expansion Dieppe Board of Directors.
- Develop a business plan for the acquisition and sale of land aligned with the five-year plan for future non-residential developments in the Dieppe Industrial Park and downtown.
- Design and promote an environment conducive to investment, including marketing, real estate development, acquisition and sale of properties and land.
- Build partnerships and strong professional relationships with economic stakeholders at regional, provincial, and national levels to foster business connections.
- Use all available evidence-based or factual data to make recommendations and decisions transparently.
- Promote collaboration among economic development organizations and coordinate their activities to support sustainable economic development.
- Manage a team of professionals and maintain a healthy and engaging work environment.
- Work with performance indicators, measure them, and report on them.
- Prepare reports and presentations, deliver oral presentations to various audiences, and act as spokesperson for Expansion Dieppe when required.
- Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal economic development regulations.
- Ensure sound financial management of operations and report to the Board of Directors.
- Oversee all human resources activities in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Coordinate annual events designed to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Certification in economic development is considered an asset.
Experience
- Ten (10) years of experience in economic development, business development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of business plan development.
- Knowledge of strategic planning.
- Knowledge of management and economic development principles and practices.
- Knowledge of human and financial resources management principles.
- Proficiency with software related to the field of assignment.
- Project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and stressful situations.
SALARY
- According to the current salary scale.
