Student - Assistant Coordinator – Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion

SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Coordinator of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, the position holder supports the planning and organization of multicultural and community-focused municipal activities and events. They assist with logistics and service delivery during activities, including those held in the evenings and on weekends. They act as a liaison with partners, community organizations, and the public. They adhere to established policies, procedures, budgets, and timelines. All tasks are performed under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion.

DUTIES

  • Supports the planning and coordination of activities that promote the welcoming and integration of newcomers;
  • Prepares for, facilitates, and welcomes the public at booths and activities;
  • Participates in facilitating and ensuring the smooth running of activities;
  • Takes part in projects in collaboration with other City departments;
  • Supports partners, artists, and organizations before, during, and after activities;
  • Assists with exploratory visits and initiatives aimed at newcomer integration;
  • Participates in the development of civic education and community awareness activities;
  • Supports organizations and ensures a presence at community activities related to diversity and multiculturalism;
  • Updates partner and association information, gathers feedback, and participates in post-event follow-up;
  • Participates in the preparation of welcome kits and informational documents;
  • Completes required forms and reports;
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in a relevant field and able to confirm a return to studies in Fall 2026.

Experience:

  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and with community groups;
  • Experience in community activities, facilitation, multiculturalism, or community service. 

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English;
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, as part of a team, and without close supervision;
  • Comfortable interacting with the public and community partners;
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, judgment, and punctuality;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines;
  • Strong customer service orientation and a positive attitude. 

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Thirty-five (35) hours per week
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends depending on event needs 

COMPENSATION

  • In accordance with Policy A-29 – Student Employment 

EMPLOYMENT DURATION

  • Fourteen (14)-week period during Summer 2026
