Business Partner, Disability Management and Wellness

SUMMARY

Reporting to the manager of labour relations, the incumbent plays a key role in disability management and wellness initiatives; advises and supports managers on disability, absence management, and return-to-work matters; implements prevention and wellness strategies and programs; and helps with various human resources initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Disability and absence management
•    Research, analyze, recommend and implement disability and absence management programs and initiatives
•    Make recommendations and develop tools to improve the disability management process
•    Proactively manage disability files, in collaboration with staff, managers and external suppliers
•    Advise managers on procedures related to disability leave, accommodation, return to work and absence management
•    Collaborate with insurance professionals and WorkSafe New Brunswick to manage claims and verify required documents
•    Create and oversee customized return-to-work and accommodation plans
•    Address staff inquiries about disability files and follow up with suppliers
•    Coordinate with payroll to update personnel files on disabilities and absences

Wellness
•    Develop, implement and coordinate prevention and wellness policies and programs to improve employee health
•    Provide health and wellness information to staff members and inform them of external resources
•    Organize awareness events, workshops and training on health and wellness topics, promoting a healthy and inclusive workplace
•    Work with external suppliers on wellness initiatives, including workplace ergonomics
•    Manage the work-life balance program
•    Oversee the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), including promotion, request handling and follow-ups

General
•    Help with various human resources initiatives as needed
•    Prepare and present documents, reports and recommendations related to disability management and wellness processes and practices
•    Track human resources trends to innovate and refine organizational practices
•    Perform additional tasks to ensure seamless operations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education
•    University degree in human resources, health or a related field
•    Certification in disability management (asset)
•    Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation (asset)

Experience 
•    Five (5) years of progressive experience in disability case management, labour relations or human resources
•    Experience in a municipal setting (asset)
•    Experience in a unionized work environment (asset)

Knowledge
•    Excellent spoken and written French and English
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite tools
•    Knowledge of specialized human resources software
•    Good knowledge of provincial legislation, employment standards, and human resources policies and procedures

WORK SCHEDULE
•    Thirty-five (35) hours a week

SALARY
•    Based on current salary scale
•    The incumbent also receives vacation time, benefits (paid by the employer) and a pension plan (employer/staff contribution).
